Active Recovery/Topic Day
Couple things up for Topic today.
First off is this last little training clip from our boy Mike Salemi before this weekend Kettlebell Meet.
Thats Mike pulling around 350×7 on a specialized Deadlift progression we’ve been working with him. Mike competes in the 32kg Long Cycle event and is currently looking to achieve the rank of Master of Sport. One things that has always hindered him is a nagging wrist injury that causes his grip to go. We also tracked this back to his cleans beating him up during his sets. This Deadlift that Mike is pulling in the video above is not a simple Sumo Deadlift. No Mike is pulling in his actual Sport stance for the Long Cycle. He is also pulling with a Double overhand grip with no hook to challenge his ability to hang onto the bar. Mike has been pulling 3×7 with this most weeks with a two second pause on top of his reps.
Mike has a lot of former experience with Power lifting even having trained at West Side for a month. We’ve seen a lot of improvements in Mikes kettling since we’ve gotten a bit more outside the box with his Strength and Conditioning work. This weekend Mike will be lifting in a meet in California. This is not a meet he’s periodized his training too. No this is more so a gunslinger meet where I pretty told him to have fun and go for it. We’ll be Painting it Black for Mike this weekend guys, show some love for your Club with us.

Active Recovery –
The Traditional Split for I/C Depth Training Calls for a Rest Day on Thursdays. Now if your a Member of our Morgan Junction location Thursday may become a “Active Recovery Day” for you.
The purpose behind this is to suit the needs of those who are unable to follow our 3 On 1 Off, 2 On 1 Off Program. Active Recovery Workouts will not be posted but will still be high intensity oriented with low impact on the body in mind. If you come to class at our Morgan Junction location on a Thursday Coaches will give you a workout designed on your level of recovery for that given day. Privatized workouts are a perk of being at our Home Gym, but be ready to work.
